SENIOR designer
Cathie Hong Interiors is a boutique residential interior design studio based in the Bay Area. We are looking for a talented, highly organized Senior Interior Designer to join our growing team.
This is a hands-on role that combines design leadership, project management, client advocacy, and team collaboration. The ideal candidate is an excellent designer and space planner who can confidently lead projects forward while navigating the many moving parts of high-end residential construction.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Lead residential and boutique commercial projects from concept through design, documentation, construction and installation
Develop cohesive, elevated designs that align with the Cathie Hong Interiors aesthetic while bringing your own creative perspective and willingness to take thoughtful risks
Have a strong understanding of space planning, residential design and construction, custom millwork and detailing; commercial design and construction experience is a plus
Lead client-facing design presentations and produce polished deliverables
Own day-to-day project management: push projects forward, manage contractors and trades, anticipate issues, advocate for the client
Juggle multiple projects, deadlines, and competing demands with a strong sense of urgency and follow-through
Work closely with a junior designer to collaboratively develop project designs and drawings; review their work and provide thoughtful, clear, and constructive feedback
Communicate with clients, contractors, vendors, and consultants with professionalism, empathy, and respect
Help diffuse tense situations and find solutions when challenges arise
WHO YOU ARE
5+ years of high-end residential interior design experience
A progressive designer with strong aesthetic alignment with Cathie Hong Interiors
An excellent space planner with a strong eye for proportion, materials, and detail
Highly organized, attentive, proactive, and able to work with a strong sense of urgency
A natural problem solver who takes ownership and follows through
An empathetic, thoughtful communicator and good listener who can navigate difficult conversations and bring people together
Comfortable taking direction and collaborating closely with the Creative Director
Confident managing contractors, tradespeople, and project partners
Diligent and accurate with time tracking
Proficient in AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Google Workspace; familiarity with Studio Designer is a plus
Must have a car and be able to travel throughout the Bay Area for client, site, and project meetings
COMPENSATION + BENEFITS
$90,000-120,000 annual salary, depending on experience and qualifications, plus annual bonus and profit sharing. This is a 90-day contract-to-hire position.
